The Joys of Voyager Neelix

Voyager Neelix is a Talaxian species who got affiliated in Starfleet. He worked as a posting advisor, cook, morale officer, and ambassador in the Star Trek series. Ethan Philips played the role of Neelix although he is somewhat unrecognizable under the mottled temple ridges and blond hair tube appearance. He portrays a bright and cheerful personality with a dark past that haunts him.

Neelix was originally from Rinax which is one of the moons of Talax found in the Delta Quadrant. He became part of the USS Voyager after he and Kes were rescued from the Kazon. He offered his services to Capt. Kathryn Janeway, appointing himself as Chief Morale Officer and works as a cook in the kitchen. Later on, Janeway appoints him as an unofficial ambassador since he has diplomatic abilities among other crew. He never expressed strong religious believes except for his belief in the Talaxian version of afterlife.

He was romantically involved with Kes but ended up as close friend after and intervention of alien control. He also became good friends with the Vulcan Tuvok, although the latter insists that he is just tolerating Neelix. Tuvok even danced before they parted as Neelix had earlier declared that he would make the Vulcan dance before their journey together is over. Neelix is also closely affiliated to the human Samantha Wildman and her daughter Naomi. He left USS Voyager to stay in an asteroid with Talaxian exiles. He was officially appointed as the Ambassador for Starfleet in Delta Quadrant.
