USS Enterprise NCC-1701-B Ultimate Ship

The USS Enterprise NCC-1701-B is the third ship to be named thus and is an Excelsior-class starship that was used by the Starfleet during the late 23rd century. It is owned by the United Federation of Planets – simply the Federation since 2293 and had been lost and presumably destroyed in 2329.

The ship could simply be referred to as the Enterprise B. It was first placed in the command of Captain John Harriman when it was launched in 2293. He was followed later on by William George Demora Sulu and Thomas Johnson Jr. Over its course of service to the Starfleet, Enterprise B became well-known and remembered through its explorations beyond the Gourami Sector allowing its crew to map more than 142 star systems and made contact with 17 other civilizations in the galaxy.

Captain James T. Kirk was honorary guest at the launching of this Enterprise but was not made Captain. During its launching, it has incomplete weaponry system, lacking the photon torpedoes and tractor beams that were present on the first two commissioned Enterprise ships. It also has no medical staff which the Starfleet did not consider a threat since it was not supposed to go out past Pluto. This maiden voyage resulted in a tragic incident when the Enterprise was not able to save the crew of and refugees from distressed ship SS Robert Fox due to lack of equipment.

Aside from this incident, the starship served the Federation well, having the same weaponry and defense system as the decommissioned Enterprise A.
