All about the USS Defiant

Also called the NCC-1764, the USS Defiant was a Federation Constitution-class heavy cruiser. It served in the Starfleet until the mid-23rd century. There are three Federation starships that are also called the USS Defiant. The USS Defiant was named after the British warship HMS Defiant. It was built at the Tranquility Base in Luna.

The USS Defiant’s last mission was in 2268. It heeded a distress call in the unexplored Tholian sector claimed by the Tholian Assembly. Almost as soon as they entered the area, the crew of the USS Defiant started to experience sensory distortion. Many of them soon became insane. The USS Defiants chief medical office could not get to the bottom of what was going on. Soon after, the insane crew of the USS Defiant would kill each other.

Three weeks after the USS Defiant was lost, the USS Enterprise was tasked by the Starfleet to undertake a search and rescue mission to find the USS Defiant. The USS Enterprise was able to find the USS Defiant on stardate 5693.2. The USS Defiant was in a space warp, lost between universes. The USS Enterprise’s own instruments showed that space was tearing itself apart. This phenomenon, which had not yet been recorded, was called a spatial interphase. When a USS Enterprise party beamed onboard the USS Defiant, they found that everyone was dead.
