Dare to Fly on the Star Trek Daedalus First known as the NX-129, the USS Daedalus was the prototype of the Daedalus-class Federation exploration starship in Starfleet service in the late 22nd century. It was alternately called the NCC-129. The USS Daedalus was first brought to life as an Earth Starfleet Cruiser. According to the Starfleet Museum, it was registered by the United Earth as the UES Daedalus (CLM-127). The USS Daedalus was built in 2161 at the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards. Her first crew would number 230 under the command of Captain Hiro Matsura. By 2266, the USS Daedalus was commanded by Fleet Captain Christopher Pike. It helped the USS Enterprise and the USS Enterprise-A to bring the Doomsday Machine back to the 24th century, where it could be obliterated. During this event, a baffle plate on the USS Daedalus came apart. This led to several cadets being exposed to delta radiation. Captain Pike was able to save the cadets, but not before being afflicted with severe radiation poisoning himself. Fortunately, the USS Daedalus was able to return to Starbase 11, where Captain Pike was able to avail of top of the notch medical treatment. In 2295, the USS Daedalus became a museum ship. It was brought to the Smithsonian Annex at Columbiad Composite by a team from the Shadowstar Nation. On its way there, the team stumbled upon a temporary anomaly in the Ilo Manitou system.
