The Klingon’s Vor’Cha Cruiser
The Klingon species had been a great part of the Star Trek show that some of the main characters of the films and TV series are from them. The Klingon Empire is also known for their starships including the Vor’Cha attach cruiser class. The exclusive starship clearly defines the warrior culture of the Klingons that is driven by honor and glory.
The Klingons first used the Vor’cha class in the ‘Reunion’ episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation where it is categorized to be somewhat the same as a heavy cruiser. The model was designed by Rick Sternbach while the studio model was built by Greg Jein. It was designed to represent the alliance between the Klingons and the United Federation of Planets since there had been plenty of collaboration and technological exchange between the two forces. Some of these were evident in the nacelles of the Vor’cha which was similar to that of the Starfleet’s.
The overall design was mainly traditional Klingon design but the color is a mixture of the Enterprise’s grey and the Bird of Prey’s dark green. The ship has a thick horizontal neck connected to the aft that spreads into a larger secondary hull like a typical Klingon starship although it is unique as it is the largest ship in the Star Trek universe. With the length of 500 meters the ship could hold 1,900 crew members. It is armed with a powerful disruptor beam, 18 disruptor cannons and three photon torpedo launchers. It also uses warp and impulse engines that speeds it up and powers the cloaking device. Truly, the Vor’cha class has made the Klingons powerful allies.
