The Vessel That Was the Queen Borg’s Lair

A octahedron-shaped starship, the Borg Queen’s massive vessel is unique in its geometric form. In service during the 2370s, there was no other ship like it.

Besides its complex structure, the vessel stood out for being heavily armed with gravimetric torpedoes and for being capable of transwarp speed. Equipped with a shields-defense system, it was also well-protected.

The ship was believed to be used exclusively for transporting the Borg Queen. Regarded as a nexus for the Borg Collective, the Queen originated from Species 125 and was discovered by Federation scientists Magnus and Erin Hansen. The Borg Queen herself commanded the vessel as the Battle Group Omega launched an attack on the Gamma Orionis Sector Block’s new Unicomplex.

In 2375, the Borg Queen also joined ex-drone Seven of Nine as their ship left Unimatrix 1 and headed for Grid 532 in order to participate in the assimilation of Species 10026. While the assimilation did not require her being there, the Queen Borg wanted to reacquaint Seven about assimilation procedures. But ultimately, she wished to use Seven’s experience as a human to advance her plan of assimilating the human race, Species 5618.

But the Queen Borg’s plan backfired. Seven had no intention of turning back on her species and refused to follow the Queen’s lead. So Captain Janeway, along with others, boarded the Delta Flyer, rescued Seven and escaped the Unicomplex.

The Borg Queen’s vessel chased the Delta Flyer through a transwarp conduit. Using photon torpedoes, the USS Voyager collapsed the conduit while the Borg Queen’s ship was still in it, effectively destroying the vessel.
