The Klingon’s Bird of Prey Warship

The Klingon Empire used the Bird of Prey as warship in the Klingon Defense Forces during the late 23rd century up to the late 24th century. The ship was also used as a cruiser, a raider, a scout, and a patrol ship due to its versatility.

There are three different sub classes of Bird of Prey based on design. The D-12 class was short lived and had to be retired because of a faulty plasma coil that brings trouble to the cloaking system of the ship. The other type is the B’rel class which had perfect cloaking devices but still needed plenty of repairs to be used in space. The last one is the K’Vort class or battle cruiser. It lasted in service up to 2370s since it is more powerful than the Galaxy class.

The name of the ship clearly suggests that in some ways it is like a bird. It actually has a hull shaped like feathers located on the wings. The wing sof the ship enables it with several flight modes. It has a bulbous forward section that contains the bridge module and a caudal section that contains the cargo bay, the impulse engine, and the warp nacelle. Although the ship is mostly used for small and peaceful missions, it has the Klingon’s best weapons and finest warriors so it is also always ready for battle.
